Product Application - GSM Boat Alarm

Like any property that is left unattended, a boat can be at risk of being targeted by burglars or intruders. Any boat owner needs to consider what steps they can take to secure their property when it is left unattended, and while traditional burglar alarms may not be suited to the needs of a boat owner, a GSM security system is well suited to being used as a boat alarm.

A GSM boat alarm meets the special requirements of the boat owner in a number of ways. Combining all the elements of a traditional burglar alarm such as infra red motion detectors, door or window sensors and even surveillance elements if required, the GSM boat alarm can be easily fitted in a wireless fashion to any vessel and tailored to meet the needs of the owner. Once security components are in place the GSM boat alarm system offers the added benefit of 24 hour remote monitoring – which allows boat owners to leave their vessel unattended with confidence.

The remote monitoring can be set up in a number of ways – a boat alarm owner can opt to have security alerts sent directly to their mobile phone by the alarm system control unit, which uses GSM technology to connect to a mobile phone network in the event of a security breach and sends out an alert. Alternatively, boat owners may wish to nominate a specialist third party professional remote monitoring service to receive and respond to any security alerts on board their vessel.

This way, boat owners need not spend valuable time responding to security alerts and attending the vessel to reset the system – which can also be done remotely via the mobile phone network. And while boats are often moored in remote areas where there are traditionally problems with poor reception and weak mobile phone signals, the simple addition of a mobile phone signal booster antenna can help to ensure that the system always has the best chance of connecting to the mobile phone network in case of an emergency.
